Ashfaque (Ajay Devgan) rises from playing in a street theatre group run by Sidhu (Pankaj Kapur) who is trying to bring about social change. By the dint of hard work, Ashfaque makes it big in the movie world as the reigning superstar, Sameer Khan. However, he loses touch with his true self, and alienates himself from his wife Sneha (Vidya Balan) too. An incident at a party forces him to rethink his life.
The movie is based on a movie star's life. There are appearences by Jackie Shroff, Tusshar, Kareena Kapoor as themselves. Raj Kumar Santoshi filmed actual movie shoots by these stars to lend credence to his movie. It promises to be a movie worth watching, thanks to the line up of 'super' actors like Pankaj Kapur, Ajay Devgan and Vidya Balan.
