MISS INDIA

Pretty Dia Mirza, with a lovely smile, sparkling eyes and gorgeous hair found herself modelling at a very young age.  She also formed a trio of winners along with Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra in the 2000 Miss India paegent.  She won the Asia-Pacific title too, to complement Lara's Miss Universe and Priyanka's Miss World. Along with her illustrious fellow Miss India, she too entered the film world with a great debut in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Me.

BOLLYWOOD HEARTTHROB

She paired with the southern superstar Madhavan in Rehna Hai Tere Dil Me.  The story was a young romance about Madhavan who lies and cheats to win his beloved, Dia.  The movie had superhit songs like 'Zara Zara mehekta hai' and 'Rehna hai tere dil me'.  The movie did not do too well at the box office despite being liked immensely by the young crowd.

Her next Deewanapan with Arjun Rampal did not do too well either despite hit songs that were all over the music channels.

Dum was the second movie of Vivek Oberoi who was riding the popularity waves thanks to his debut in Company.  Alas, the movie showed no dum at the box office.

Tehzeeb was a niche art movie, with a great story and superb performances all around not exactly blockbuster material.

With Tumsa Nahi Dekha, she stepped into the familiar Vishesh films arena, Emraan as hero, good songs, a good story.  But no, the viewers said nyet.

Blackmail, Koi Mere Dil Me Hai, Naam Gum Jayega sank without a trace.

HIT AT LAST

Dia was not the lead actress in Parineeta.  She played Saif's eager, high society fiance who is happy to bag a rich, handsome, artistic husband.  She put in a good performance and looked as great as ever.  Parineeta was a critical and a commercial success, and the effect rubbed off on Dia too.

Bingo with Dus too.  The viewers were treated to a hollywood style thriller by Anubhav Sinra.  Dia played the beloved kid sister of Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan.  She was wooed by Zayed Khan in this flick. The movie was a huge success.

Alag was an alag story. Sort of sci-fi.  Though it was not a major hit, the movie was well liked by all, and Dia was the leading lady here as a person who really understands Tejas, the hero of the movie.

BIG LEAGUE

Lage Raho Munnabhai brought Dia another good role.  She plays the beloved daughter of Boman Irani.  She awakens his conscience when even the gandhigiri of Munnabhai fails. It was a lovely role and brought her many accolades.

In Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd., Dia had the hilarious role of a runaway bride who ditches her whiny husband to elope with her lover.  This Reema Kagti movie was appreciated.

In Shootout at Lokhandwala, Dia plays a newswoman who is sceptical about the methods police uses to nab terrorists, but realises that they too are in a tough spot, and have to make tough choices. The went totally deglamourous for this role, no makeup, no fancy clothes.  She looked as lovely as ever, and did very well in this important role.

Cash was the second offering of Anubhav Sinha, but it went haywire. It was a supposedly good project that just fell apart, alas for Dia.

Dus Kahaniyan had several actors and actresses acting out in skit like stories. The movie is seen as a novelty, and partially appreciated.  Dia has appeared in one of the stories.

GOSSSSSIP

Dia has been said to look like Aishwarya Rai.  But the pretty actress soon proved her own worth and shook off the comparision.

She dated Bunty, as producer, for a while. These days, Bunty is seeing Sushmita Sen.

She is part german and part bengali.  Her father died when she was young, and her mother remarried a hyderabadi Ahmed Mirza, which accounts for her surname.

She has been recently engaged to an NRI in Michigan, in a secret ceremony at Auburn Palace - Auburn Hills MI, USA
